So I'm at work today at Izzi's and I had to run to get some cheese and lettuce for the make line. when I came back with said cheese and lettuce, I set it on the counter and started opening the bags. My supervisor, H, came over and told me to get the stuff off of the counter and make room for the burritos he was making. Well, since there was nowhere else to put the cheese and lettuce, I told him that he was just going to have to make room somewhere else. That is when it got ugly. He said: "Man, you don't need to be talking shit! I'm not going to mess around with you like I do with the girls that work here. I'll slap you on your head!" Yup, believe it or not, this is my supervisor.
And now I'm angry. I just told him that I was going to report to his supervisor that he threatened his employee. Because I'm all about tattling and I never do the whole masculine, "I'll kick your ass" type of thing. I really hate that stuff and I don't like it when other men put me in a situation like that where they are trying to intimidate me. I mean c'mon, we are just making burritos here let's just try to maybe act like grown people and do it without fighting. I know the job is stressful, but it will be okay.
Oh, and I'd also like to thank my supervisor for qualifying that it was just because I'm a man that he would even consider hitting me. Yeah, I can apparently take it because I have my cock n' balls to block the blows. I'm not one to say there is such a thing as reverse sexism, and that it sucks to be a white man, but I think I find myself in way too many of these intimidation/violence situations. Not that violence doesn't happen to women, of course, but the special brand of it that males always do to each other just really gets on my nerves. It is almost like the only violence that is normal and acceptable to see out in public (aside for child abuse) is when it is a man fighting another man. And I could tell that H was ready to fight today if I had kept running my mouth and escalating the situation. Because it is macho to not back down. I never know what to do when I end up being thrown in these pissing contests with other men. I'm not a violent person and have never fought anybody. I've been intimidated by large men like this all of my life. I just want to lay down in the grass and be cool, y'know?
Later in the day, I did actually get to speak with H's supervisor. I told her all about the situation and she just laughed. Yeah, I can't say that I saw anything comical about it. So I whitemaled her and told her that it wasn't funny and H should get fired for threatening his employees. So she said that she would talk with him. Whatever.
However, thirty minutes later she started freaking out about it and treating it like it was important. This was because she had apparently called her supervisor and assked how to deal with this issue. So now she is running around on the phone and trying to get witness accounts of the event. Who knows what will happen out of all of this, but it really was annoying.
